Gov. Obaseki ‘s Economic prosperity for Edo State

Gov. Obaseki ‘s Economic prosperity for Edo State – – It is expedient to chronicle this piece with first unraveling the fact that Agriculture plays an integral part in sustaining daily endeavours.

This has no doubt propelled Gov. Godwin Obaseki to embark on policies like ‘Value Chain’ to develop 250,000 hectares of fully integrated farms to produce and process Oil Palm, Rice, Cassava, Maize, Rubber, Sugar Cane, Citruses and Vegetables, taking our Out- Growers’ Scheme to the desired percentage.

With this analysis, 40% of cultivated land is owned and farmed by over 25,000 Edo Entrepreneur Farmers with off-take contracts to ensure that they sell their produce and generate wealth for Edo youth and sundry.

The tractorise Edo Project has empowered over 1,000 young entrepreneurs to acquire mechanisation and tractorisation equipment to support the farmland development with off-take contracts from the farm developers and our out- growers. This initiative has generated additional 4 to 6 jobs in the value chain to create additional 4,000 to 6,000 jobs in the state.

The state Government has successfully refined Industry and Infrastructure as well as:

Revived Moribund Industries

Within the first year in office. Which led to the restructuring and resolving of all outstanding debt obligations with Bendel Brewery, Edo Line and any other State Owned Enterprise.

As a technocrat, who believes in recreating for betterment, Gov. Obaseki has redefined and completed the Secretariat building being neglected by previous Government, without prejudice, all in lieu of enhancing a well developed and structured Edo State.

Investments in new Industries

Gov. Obaseki led administration has continuously supported investment initiatives in the state including, the Ossiomo Industrial Park, Atlantique Marine & Engineering Services Ltd (AMES) Pipe Mill and Coating plant and all other similar initiatives currently pegged out for effective delivery.

Gov. Obaseki’s unfading focus on developing new Large and embedded electricity generation and alternative energy solutions to meet our increasing electricity demand is still resolute, waiting for commissioning in no distance time. The Azura power supply seals all doubt.

Infrastructure (Roads, Schools, Hospitals, Housing

Governor Obaseki has no doubt extended road networks to connect new areas not previously linked with the road infrastructure grid to facilitate the movement of people and produce to markets, as well as identified the most disadvantaged neighbourhoods in the state and those at the greatest risk of flooding and channel resources into building necessary infrastructure to cater for their needs.

This administration has also determined the most accident-prone areas and provide adequate safety and traffic management solutions.

In pursuit of our collective desire to develop a competitive knowledge economy, Gov. Obaseki led administration has introduced the development of Broadband infrastructure into our road infrastructure and transportation network to build a more virile and mobile business and learning environment.

The redevelopment of the Ikpoba River valley projects not only to generate electricity but also as a source of water supply for industrial and domestic user is currently on the top gear.

Women and Youth Empowerment

Gov. Godwin Obaseki’s government has successfully provided the enabling environment for women to achieve their highest potentials by taking initiatives beyond the phase of empowering women to empowering society as a whole through the ‘women-in-business’ initiative.
