A grade 4 pupil from Sakhile Primary School in Heidelberg, Gauteng, South Africa has been suspended after he allegedly assaulted his class teacher, leaving her bloodied eye.

Its not clear what must have transpired between them but news have it that the pupil allegedly threw a pencil case towards her while she was busy at her table.

It hit her and resulted in serious cut on her right eye that  led to bleeding.

The teacher was treated at a local hospital and discharged same day as confirmed by Gauteng’s basic education spokesperson Steve Mabona.

Steve Mabona says, “It is alleged that a grade 4 learner threw a pencil case towards an educator while she was busy at her table. Unfortunately, it hit her in the face.”

“We can confirm that she is recuperating at home. Our employee wellness officials are in constant liaison with the educator for necessary support,” Mabona said.”

On how to deal with the matter, police were called but the school said its governing body will handle it.

We gathered that the pupil had been suspended and that the matter will be heard after November 20th.

“Learner ill-discipline will not be tolerated in our environment, which must always be conducive for teaching and learning,” Mabona said.
