Gunmen hit Lagos and Ogun, demand N10m from Actor and Trader

Gunmen have started ‘working’ openly in Lagos and Ogun state. This is coming after several warnings to the South-West states.

Famous Nigerian comic actor, Afeez Oyetoro popularly known as “Saka” was attacked by armed robbers at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The robbers, who stormed his house early Tuesday morning, demanded the sum of N10 million.

When the robbers couldn’t get the outrageous sum from him, they beat him up and carted away his mobile phones and laptops among others.

Oyetoro’s friend, Kayode Soaga confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.

“The Robbers broke into his home at about 2 am, heavily armed with pump action guns, machetes, breaking-in tools. His security guards were tied down and demobilized.

“Three other houses on the street were robbed with more devastating effect. They broke the burglary proof and went straight to him demanding #10 million or his life. Threatening to kill and destroy.

“He begged and pleaded. They later came down to #3 million naira which he said he doesn’t have. They dazed him with a resounding slap etc. The armed robbers packed all android phones, iPhones, laptops, and all available cash in the home. Also collected all ATM cards. The robbers came with POS to empty money in açcounts.

“Saka’s security guards were demobilized while the guards of his neighbours were not too lucky as they were shot several times in the arms. We thank almighty GOD for Saka’s Life as he’s doing fine,” the statement read.

The 59-year-old actor is said to be doing fine with his family after the shocking incident.

Also, in Lagos, the gunmen stormed a shop at Plywood area of Epe, Lagos, Sunday night, abducting a trader identified as Hajia Aminat Folorunsho–Balogun.

The abductors later contacted her family, demanding N10 million ransom for her release.

The kidnappers, who pretended to be customers, walked into her shop at about 10.07pm, requesting to buy water. Her husband was said to be in the shop with her.

While the transaction was ongoing, one of the strangers, put off the power generating set, thereby throwing the entire shop into darkness. They collected the couple’s phones and beat them up.

Thereafter, they locked her husband inside the shop, smuggled her into their vehicle and drove away.

A relative, who prefer to remain anonymous, disclosed that the kidnappers contacted the victim’s husband in the early hours of Monday, demanding N50 million ransom for her release.

The relative said: “After much bargain, they told him they would not go below N10 million. The family pleaded for N2 million but they declined. We have been going from place to place to appeal for funds.

“We are appealing to the Lagos State government and well-meaning Nigerians to assist us,“ the relative stated.
