How Andrea Langhorst and Children were Found Dead their Living Car

Melbourne Police are investigating the suspicious deaths of a 35-year-old transient Florida mother, Andrea Langhorst and her two 3-year-old children who were found dead in her vehicle last weekend.

The decomposing bodies of Andrea Langhorst and her children, Adam Dryer and Olivia Dryer were found in a vehicle shortly before midnight on Sunday after police were dispatched to an apartment complex at 746 Madelyn Way in Melbourne, Florida to investigate reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area. Upon arrival, Melbourne Police officers found the Florida woman and her two kids deceased inside the vehicle in question.

Foul play is suspected.

Authorities are relying on post-mortem examinations to determine how Langhorst, her son and her daughter died, as well as whether they died at the same time. The Brevard County Medical Examiner’s office is currently performing the autopsies on the Florida mother and her children.

Authorities stated that Langhorst is the biological mother of both Adam Dryer and Olivia Dryer. and she listed the family’s residence as in St. Lucie County.

According to local authorities, though, Langhorst and the children had been living out of her car in which the trio of bodies were found.

“[They] appear to have been living transiently out of the vehicle along the east coast of Florida,” Melbourne Police Department said in a press release statement.

“It’s still under investigation,” Lt. Shaun Hill, spokesman for the Melbourne Police Department, said, daily newspaper Florida Today reported. “We don’t have any information as far as how long they were there. But she was living out of her car.”

Langhorst’s father told Florida Today he hadn’t spoken to his daughter since March 11.

“We were looking for her and hadn’t heard anything from her,” Randy Langhorst told the outlet. “That was unusual for her. We wouldn’t have daily contact with her, but this was a while,” said Langhorst. “She was a free spirit, smart as a whip, beautiful, but lived her life to the beat of her own drummer. It’s just a tragedy.”

The grieving parent said drug usage could have possibly factored into his daughter’s death.

“It was her decision,” he added. “We didn’t exactly approve of her lifestyle. Everything is hindsight, but I’ll be kicking [myself] for the rest of my life,” he told Florida Today. “All I can think about are those babies.”

The 35-year-old mother spent 25 days in jail in 2010 following a drug-related arrest. According to charging documents in that case, obtained by Oxygen.com, Langhorst’s mother phoned authorities after finding Langhorst and her now ex-boyfriend in the home’s bathroom with a burnt spoon and a syringe.

She was ultimately slapped with four drug charges and pleaded nolo contendere to drug paraphernalia charges.

The father of Langhorst’s children is currently incarcerated at a Brevard County detention facility, Florida Today reported.

No new updates were immediately available regarding the troubling incident on Thursday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Melbourne Police Department didn’t respond to multiple requests from Oxygen.com for comment on the ongoing case on Thursday afternoon.

Anyone with additional information regarding the deaths of Langhorst and her two children are urged to contact the Melbourne Police Department at 321-608-6371.
