How I identifIed fake friends after my Husband passed away

A woman via Quora, Karen M Shelton have explained how she identified fake friends in her life.

She said;

”When my husband passed away suddenly I learned a hard lesson about who my real friends were and who were my fake friends.

I learned that my real friends would take my phone calls no matter what time of the day and night. If they weren’t available, they would get back to me as soon as they could. They didn’t ghost me.

My fake friends paid lip service and initially seemed concerned about me. Sadly, people I thought I could count on in a crisis, didn’t all show up.

For me it’s a very simple rule of thumb, if I feel that I can call someone at any time of the day or night and they will take my call, they are true blue.

Otherwise, they are most likely fake friends.

Guess what? Any of my real friends know without a shadow of a doubt that I will also be there for them at any time of the day or night.

In fact, I will hop on a plane, train, or in an automobile to be by the side of one of my true friends who calls me and tells me they need me.

Not everyone can do that. The pandemic has brought difficult times for many. A phone call, a text, a handwritten note on lined notebook paper or even just “I love you” works just as well.

I used to have tons of fake friends, but now I have a handful of true friends who treat me with love and respect.

I feel extremely blessed.

Friendship is a two-way street, a fake friend won’t put in the same effort you do, but if they do, you have a true treasure.

Not everyone will agree with me, but all people are different, with different needs and different lifestyles.

Best wishes to all.”
