I CAN’T BREATHE! Like Esau, you have been cheated from your birthright

BREATHE: Africa cries, I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe at the oppression of my brother. The knee of my brother has been on my neck for centuries, squeezing life out of me. Africa, crying I am about to die, Africa, calling on Mama. Africa, a fully-grown man calling Mama, Mama Africa hear the cry of your children. Arise, Africa, Shine.

Like Esau, you have been cheated from your birthright. Africa, you are the first-born son of your father but due to your greed and carelessness, you have sold your birth right to your brother for a plate of porridge. The plate of porridge enticed you so much that you sold your children into slavery to your brother and you are still selling your children to your brother till today. Your children who were once princes and princesses, now have chains on their necks. Not the golden chains of Ghana or the diamond neck pieces of the Congo but the iron chains of slavery.

Africa is praying to the Father. “Do you have only one blessing, my Father? Bless me also, O my father!” Africa cries to the Father. The Father has blessed you, Africa, from the Cape to Cairo, from Morocco to Mogadishu but you despised your blessings and your brother has stolen them from you.

Africa, your dwelling has now been away from the earth’s richness, away from the dew of heaven above. Despite your riches, you are still poor as your leaders have mortgaged you for pennies. Your leaders have been fantastically corrupt. You have lived by the sword with so much civil wars and intertribal wars.

God is saying to you.
Africa, Arise! your brother has oppressed you enough. When you decide to break free, you will shake his yoke from your neck. Africa! break the yoke of your brother from your neck.

Africa! do not hold a grudge against your brother because of the blessings of your father.

Africa, God has blessed you also. Your brother is afraid of you that is why he intimidates you with police brutality and ferocious dogs. Do not hold a grudge, forgive your brother for he does not know what he is doing.

I can see Africa rising like Esau with your 400 leaders, a new generation of leaders. I can see that your brother is passing in front of all of them and bowing low to the ground to them, seven times, they are bowing low to your leaders. I can see your brother running to meet you and embracing you.

Africa, I can see your brother throwing himself around your neck and kissing you. Africa, I can you brother weeping and asking for forgiveness, I can see you also crying and embracing you brother.

Look your brother has brought these gifts to you to seek your favour. But the response is now different, no more hand me downs, no more dumping in Africa. Africa will now respond to his brother “I have plenty, keep what you have to yourself”.
