The ÌBÍLÈ YOUTH ACADEMY have finally been launched in Lagos State with over 70 youths benefiting from it’s five industrious days.
Ibile Youth Academy is an initiative of the Lagos State Government Ministry of Youth and Social Development, done annually as a Lagos State Youth Leadership Academy accross the Five (5) Division – Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, Epe (IBILE).
This leadership initiative and training is projected and aimed at Inculcating in the youth the virtues of Citizenship, Leadership and Volunteerism for the development of their personality, society, the state and by extension Nigeria at large.
However, the first phase of the leadership programme commenced on Monday, 28th of October and ended on Friday, 1st of November 2019 at Ikorodu.
During this five (5) days of enormous tasks, drillings, scrutinizing, as well as lectures on various topics ranging from:
– “Financial Intelligence and Investment”,
– “The role of ICT in the 21st Century Entrepreneurship”,
– “Creative Thinking”, “Effective Communication and Public Speaking”,
– “Etiquette, Manners and Social Skills for young leaders”,
– “Environmental responsibility”,
– “Team Building”,
– “Drug Abuse” and many other social interest topics.
Over 70 youth in each division participated and were impacted.
After successful completion of the five (5) days program at each division, there was a need to select, Twelve (12) best participants to be called and referred to as “Ikorodu Youth Ambassadors”.
This selected participants would go to represent Ikorodu at the state level for the hunt of which division would become the State Ambassador.
Jackson Adewale AYIKA emerged overall best for Ikorodu division and was certified by the Lagos State Government.
AYIKA was a part of the best 12 selected.
Sharing how he feels with Gbetu Tv on being part of the first set and coming as overall best, he says,
In truth, we can only invest in our youth to invest in our state.
This past five (5) days was Impeccable, Worthwhile and Mind blowing.
I want to use this medium to appreciate the Lagos State Government for this initiative through its Ministry of Youth and Social Development, I say a very big thanks to the Coordinators, Facilitators, Accessor’s, Security personnel and everyone who in one way or the other contributed to the success of the First Phase of this program, I say Thank you.
