Ibom Air scam: Why Nigerians should not fly it (Commentary)

Everything about Governor Udom Emmanuel is scam. From the rice mill factory to the coconut factory, syringe factory to pencil factory. The ogakpatakpata of them all is Ibom Air.

 

Let me give you an experience. Do you know that in Ibom Air, you cannot cancel a flight and reschedule?

 

In the scam called Ibom Air, they believe in paying No show fee, even if you tell them few days or hours of your inability to make it. In other flights, you pay no fee once you alert them of your non availability to travel that day.

 

For Udom Emmanuel and his new scam Ibom Air project, it’s an avenue to dupe passengers through archaic aviation systems. In other airlines, the amount paid remains the same when used for other dates, unless the price has changed for the date.

 

I recently booked for four persons on Ibom Air, to and fro Abuja to Uyo. Unable to make it, I asked for reschedule. Guess how much the scam airline asked me to pay. N70,000 just to change date of flight. This is what the criminals called Ibom Scam air billed me. Even no show fees is never more than N3000 which should not be more than N25,000 for the four passengers.

 

Here’s another shocker. Passengers cannot modify tickets online. They have to go to the airport, locate their poor desk and change it, or call someone to go there for them. They are that dubious.

 

To anyone planning to fly Ibom Air, now or in the future, avoid it with everything you can and go for Air Peace, Aero, Arik, Dana that operates Uyo. This is to give you the peace of mind incase you decide to change your trip and want no huge extra cost that the thieves in Ibom Air impose.

 

FAAN should suspend Ibom Air for now till they are ready to meet aviation standards of allowing passengers modify their tickets and not paying when it’s not show fees.
