Imo State: Nigerian Airforce 'goes for practice' at Orsu in Search Of ESN

The Nigerian Airforce, ignoring bandits and their locations, move swiftly to Orsu, Imo state to test the new machines on Eastern Security Network (ESN).

To enjoy the practice better and show how good they are, they ignored civilians while launching their ‘balls’ carelessly in pursuit of ESN soldiers.

The newly NAF MI-171E Helicopter was handed over by President Muhammadu Buhari in December 2020 and it is specially ment for Boko Haram.

“Today’s induction brings to 23 the number of brand new aircraft that have been added to the inventory of the Nigerian Air Force since we came on board in 2015 and is a clear reflection of our unflinching commitment to ensuring the security of Nigeria and Nigerians.

“These 23 new aircraft are aside the 15 additional aircraft, including 12 Super Tucano aircraft from the United States of America and 3 JF-17 Thunder Multi-Role Fighter aircraft from Pakistan that have been procured and will soon be delivered.”

He said, “On our part, we will continue to support you in any way we can to help you become more effective in the execution of your mandate for the safety and security of our country.”

“Remain unyielding in confronting the Boko Haram insurgency as well as other forms of criminality that have bedevilled our country.”

But on Thursday Morning, these ‘babies’ appeared in Orsu, Imo state. releasing ‘venoms’ without second thought.

Military fighter jets believed to be deployed by the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force started conducting aerial strikes in the communities.

Heavy airstrikes started on Thursday noon, as the military continues trying to dislodge the Eastern Security Network operatives said to have strongholds in the forests.

Interestingly at the same time, highly rated bandits had kidnapped 27 students in Niger state and the Nigerian Government were ‘sharing kola’ to secure the victims – a similar kidnap which is happening the second time.

A video of the aerial bombardments on Thursday surfaced with fresh tension and anxiety building in the communities.

“Nigerian soldiers are currently conducting aerial strikes in our areas. Many innocent lives may be lost. They are probably looking for ESN operatives who are checking the activities of killer Fulani herdsmen,” a community head told SaharaReporters.

“People’s homes and market places may be affected. We don’t need aircraft in Orlu. They should go and find the stolen school pupils in Niger State,” another angry resident said.

“I have the video. There was an aircraft firing shots possibly in a nearby bush. Very reckless of the airforce; civilians are all over the place,” another person said.

In December, Nigerian Army deployed combat helicopters, gun trucks, and soldiers to search some suspected forests in the South-East states where the ESN, launched by Nnamdi Kanu, was said to be camping.

A video, from the drones and hidden cameras believed to be installed by the ESN, had captured the Nigerian Army helicopters and their vehicles and soldiers searching for the camp of the ESN for possible arrests.

Kanu, leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, on December 12, launched the ESN, saying the regional security outfit, just like Amotekun in the South-West, would help to tackle crimes and criminalities.

“The Nigerian Army that is supposed to fight Boko Haram was seen everywhere searching for the camp of Eastern Security Network team. But they forgot they are dealing with sophisticated men. There are cameras and drones everywhere watching them,” an official had said.

Also in January, 2021, ESN had a bloody clash with the Nigerian Army from Obinze barracks and four soldiers were reportedly killed.

Comments rolling around have it that this is definitely a continuation of Biafran War and not necessarily a chase of proscribed group as a reasonable government and governor will think citizens before such ‘operation’.

As at the time of this report, about 2000 ESN soldiers have been send for defence, according to report.

A developing story…
