Implementation of SIRTS, SHF has come to stay in Ogun – OGIRS Boss

The Executive Chairman, Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS), Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye has reiterated the determination of the State Government to continue with the implementation of the Single Inter State Road Tax Stickers (SIRTS) and Single Haulage Fee (SHF) as agreed with Chairmen of other States’ Internal Revenue Service including the Federal Capital, at the 151st Joint Tax Board (JTB) meeting, held last year for the benefit of Transporters and Government

Speaking during SIRTS and SHF Stakeholders’ Engagement/Sensitization meeting with OGIRS/JTB at Obas’ Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Chairman said the initiative was to harmonize various payment made by transporters, promote ease of doing business nationwide, and improving Governments Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

He explained that the initiative would be a win-win situation for transporters and Government when compared to how various payments were made by transporters before the innovation.

Olaleye said the SIRTS just like the consolidated emblem paid by transporters would be paid annually while SHF would be paid per transaction at the point of loading and offloading the goods.

According to him, the JTB as administrative body to easy the implementation process nationally, were moving round the states to sensitize stakeholders including security agents on how to implement and enforce the initiative.

In his remark, the JTB Team Leader, Mr. Amos Oduloye applauded the state government for its sustainability of the project, especially, in implementing the initiative compared to other states.

He noted that JTB as umbrella body for all Tax authorities, was to ensure harmony among the states nationwide by creating a platform for implementation of the initiative.

In his remarks, the Ogun Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Commander Umar Ahmeed as one of the agencies that would enforce the initiative, described it as a welcome idea that was long overdue, comparing its uniformity nature to Vehicle licence that were nationally tenable anywhere.

Present at the meeting were, Transporters, Representative of Manufacturers Association, Vendors on SIRTS/SHF, Haulage Operators, Security Agents and others.
