INSPIRING CHANGE CONFERENCE 2022: How it went

Saturday 12th March 2022 will linger for a long time in the minds of all the attendees of this year’s edition of the Inspiring Change Conference. Held at the prestigious Wisdom Arena, Agege, the conference, themed “RUN FORWARD”, delivered heavily on its promises.

 

Convener; Sunmbo Adeoye delivered her loaded welcome address with poise and passion. The audience held on to her every word as she took us down memory lane of the previous 8 editions of the annual conference and honored her late mentor and “Queen Mother”; Pastor Nomthi Odukoya.

Following shortly after was the address by the keynote speaker, Bank Executive; Mary Akpobome who took her eager spectators on a remarkable journey of how she became who she is today. Everyone was “wowed” at her revelations as they could not begin to imagine that a top-level executive of a prestigious bank, had gone through the struggles she narrated. With a mixture of laughter and tears, the audience listened passionately.

 

The next guest speaker was Management Consultant; Ini Abimbola, who admitted she was going to get all vulnerable with the crowd, and she did. It was a much-needed session. When the 45-minute address was over, it was like it hadn’t even started. She encouraged the congregation, through her life experiences which included lots of hardships, judgment, and more.




She said “I have been running forward all my life and even at almost 60 years old, I am still running forward” It was a very inspiring session.

The crowd-favorite “Girl Talk” was next which featured Social Media brand influencer; Ify Mogekwu (Ify’s Kitchen) and dynamic Fashion Designer; Abisola Adeniyi alongside host and convener; Sunmbo Adeoye. During this session, the audience got to experience a fragment of what the ladies have had to sacrifice to get to where they are today and they were also able to answer a few pressing questions from the participants of the conference.

 

The day climaxed when Mary Akpobome paid for all available copies present of Sunmbo Adeoye’s latest book, titled “Refurbished: Hope for a Fresh Start” to be shared amongst the attendees present at the event. It was a very emotional moment as she received a standing ovation for such a kind gesture.

 

Other activities of the day included musical performances by incredible Exouxia Wilson and Binibor Fortune Ogedengbe of Esob Heros award-giving to 3 volunteers of the Inspiring Change Initiative for their immense dedication to making this edition as perfect as it was.

INSPIRING CHANGE CONFERENCE 2022: How it went

The Esob Hero Award was presented to Folakemi Yemi Olaniyi for her dedication and exceptional coordination of the Inspiring Change tweet conference. The second award was presented to Olabisi Oni for her exceptional planning and coordination of the Feb. 2022 “Inspiring Change Deliberately Prison Outreach”. Last but certainly not the least was the third Esob Hero Award, which was presented to Pastor David Adeoye for his exemplary leadership and continuous dedication towards the success of all Inspiring Change initiatives. The awards were presented by Mary Akpobome.




From January of this year, the Inspiring Change team have embarked on various CSR projects, one which was a visit to the female section of the Kirikiri prison, where the inmates awaiting trial were prayed for, encouraged, and were also gifted many consumables. On March 11 th , 2023, the conference will mark its 10th anniversary in a big way at the Lagos Marriot Hotel Ikeja. More information will be shared on this as the year goes by.
