IPOB records success on Sit at Home order; gives reason

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, on Thursday, said that the sit at home order it issued was successful across states.

Ebonyi state, especially recorded ‘total’ scilence.

The group equally seized the opportunity to give reason for the sit at home order.

In a statement signed by Emma Powerful, the groups Media and Publicity, Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB leader said: “Today’s Sit at home order issued by the global movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on 1st of October 2020 is totally successful in so many states and cities in Biafraland.

“All states in Biafraland complied on the order, Abia State, Rivers state, Ebonyi state, Anambra State, Imo state Delta state and other states in Biafraland.

Reason

“The compliance of this order is to showcase our readiness for the speedy coming of Biafra freedom and independence.

“There are empty markets, roads, no vehicles on the road of Biafra and Biafrans all over the world are on the streets of their respective countries where they find themselves with our brethren from Oduduwa nation.

Appreciation

“We thank our people in South Africa, USA, Canada, Britain, France, Japan, Germany, Indonesia, Australia and other countries of the world for their resoluteness and declared to the world over that we are no longer interested in Nigeria. The whole world must understand that IPOB cannot go back to Nigeria.

“This is our joint outing with Oduduwa nation across the globe therefore everybody must understand and be sure that the disintegration of this British bondage called Nigeria will be dissolve in peace.”

Meanwhile, the police in Imo on Wednesday led detachments of the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in a show of strength in Owerri, the state capital ahead of the sit-at-home order by the IPOB on October 1.

The exercise took off from the State Police Command headquarters, Owerri at about 10 am and moved round the major streets within the capital city.

The convoy included an Armoured Personnel Carrier and several patrol vans, loaded with heavily armed men, raising tension amongst residents within the state capital.

The Show of Force, which caused heavy gridlock in the state capital, also took place in all the ten police area commands that make Imo state.

Ikeokwu confirmed that the show of force was in response to the sit-at-home order declared by the proscribed IPOB.

The police spokesperson said the Show of Force was to reassure residents the police in conjunction with the security agencies were capable of protecting them.

He stressed: “We want them to know that the law will not spare them should they go ahead to disrupt the prevailing peace, which residents of the state are presently enjoying.

“So we used this opportunity to instill confidence in the people that security agencies are alive to their primary duties of protecting their lives and property.

“The Police Chief, therefore, urged the people to ignore the sit-at-home order and go about their lawful businesses without any fear of molestation.”
