Jennifer Lopez: My Son asked me to support Black Lives Matter movement

Jennifer Lopez has confessed that her her son encouraged her to show support for the Black Lives Matter movement amid global protests.

 

On Sunday, 7th June, Lopez and her fiancé, former professional baseball player Alex Rodriguez, took part in a Black Live Matter march in Los Angeles.


The singer and actress later shared a video of her and her partner walking down Hollywood Boulevard among protesters, holding up signs that read “BLM #EnoughIsEnough” and “Let’s Get Loud for Black Lives Matter”.

 

In the caption, Lopez wrote that her 12-year-old twins Emme and Max helped her and Rodriguez make a sign for the protest.

 

She captioned, “Max told me a few days ago: ‘You know mom, since you have a following like some of my YouTuber gamers and they ask us to support things and we do you should do that for George Floyd.”

 

“I said, ‘Funny you say that baby, I am planning a few things. Do you want to help me by making a sign?’ And they did!!”


The 50-year-old continued, saying that she spoke to her children about fighting “against the injustices in this world”.

 

“We talked about how if one person doesn’t have justice then no one does,” Lopez said.

 

“That this country was built on the belief of freedom and justice for all.

 

“We must take a stand for what we believe in and fight against the injustices in this world.”


The actor concluded her message by saying: “So we continue to peacefully protest until there is change.”

 

Jennifer Lopez then added the hashtags ”#BlackLivesMatter”, “#GetLoud”, “CallingAllMamas” and “TeamThemYoung”.

According to INDEPENDENT, Rodriguez also shared series of pictures and videos on Instagram from the Los Angeles protest.

 

“All across our nation, for nearly two weeks, the message has been sent loud and clear. Americans everywhere protesting for peace. For equality. For humanity. To show #BlackLivesMatter,” the 44-year-old wrote in the caption.


Rodriguez stated he felt “proud” to join in the peaceful protest in Los Angeles, writing: “We are proud to walk alongside you, and to share in spreading such an important message”.

 

“Thank you for speaking up. Thank you for continuing to fight the good fight. Thank for you using your voices for good. America: It’s time to listen,” he concluded.
