JEWEL TAYLOR VISITS ONDO STATE

The Federal Republic of Liberia Vice President, Dr Jewel Howard-Taylor made history as the first Vice President from the West African Country to visit Office of Ondo State Governor on Wednesday in Akure.

 

She was in the State on the invitation of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin where she is expected to deliver convocation lecture on Thursday.

Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa who stood in for the State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON to received the August visitor, thanked Her Excellency, Dr Jewel Howard-Taylor and her team for the visit which he described as historic and cheering.

 

“Nigeria and Liberia has been coming for long” , declared Aiyedatiwa.

 

“On behalf of Mr Governor, we want to thank you for this historic visit to Ondo State and also for honouring Elizade University’s invitation”.

 

“You have an intimidating profile, no wonder you are doing so well in Liberia” .

 

“Your profile revealed who you are, what you have done and what you are still capable of doing… and it is part of what you are coming here to do at Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin” , he said.

 

Continued, the Deputy Governor said, “no doubt, the School, Students, Staffs and others who will be at your lecture on Thursday will be blessed by your lecture” .

 

Aiyedatiwa pointed out on the need of deepening bilateral relations amongst West African Countries, so as to take the subregion to another level economically.

 

“There is the need to further deepened the bilateral relations amongst the West African Countries and move from countries to countries to people to people” .

 

“To move from ECOWAS of States to ECOWAS of people” .

 

“So, coming from Liberia to Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin is part of the relationship that I’m talking about, as there’s the need to build on this positive development of your visit” .

 

The Deputy Governor added that, “the profile of Elizade University will be enhanced by this your historical visit to the University” .

 

“Once again, on behalf of our Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, CON and the good people of this State, i thank you for coming to Ondo State, the sunshine state” , he said.

On her part, Her Excellency, Dr Jewel Howard-Taylor thanked the Deputy Governor for the warm reception for her and her entourage.

 

“To me, education is the best gift anyone can give…I’m honoured and privileged to be here, big thanks for welcoming us warmly” , she said.

 

The visit was led by the founder and Chancellor of Elizade University, Chief Michael Ade Ojo and members of the Governing board of the University.

Others in attendance were, Chief of Staff to Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale, Chief Michael Ade-Ojo’s wife, Mrs Taiwo, Vice Chancellor of Elizade University, Prof. Olukayode Amund, Registrar of Elizade University, Omololu Adegbenro, member of the University governing board, Mr. Bode Adediji, DFA, Office of Deputy Governor, Olufemi Obideyi, Administration Secretary, Office of Deputy Governor, Mr Idowu Ojo and Special Assistant to Governor on New Media, Ladi Okunniga Okunniga.
