Broadcast Journalist, Rotimi Jolayemi (aka Oba Akewi), have been arrested for Hate Speech on the Presidency.
The arrest was allegedly ordered by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alh. Lai Muhammed two weeks ago through the office of Inspector General of Police.
Oba Akewi surrendered himself to the department of Intelligence Response Team on Wednesday, March 6th at Kwara State Command, Ilorin after three of his family members were arrested and detained for a week.
The OAP duo recently releases a bombshell 20min audio recording (Ewi) that talks about the state of the Nation on COVID-19 pandemic, President Buhari and Alh. Lai Muhammed in particular, which the minister claimed as hate speech offence.
Comr. Rotimi Jolayemi popularly called Oba Akewi by his fans and colleagues is a reputable member and incumbent vice chairman of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria “FIBAN” Osun State Chapter.
New about his trial is not out yet but fingers are crossed.
All efforts of the Chairman, FIBAN, Osun State Chapter; Comr. Olugbade Olu-Oluomo with a senior legal practitioner to bail or reach him have proved abortive.
Some important personnels, Top politicians and well recognized Royal fathers in Kwara State have stepped into actions to intervene, with optimistimism to resolve with the FG/ALM and settle out of court as soon as possible.

Who will fight for these people that are been silenced and persecuted for calling out the president in a country that claims to practice “free speech”?
No one, because those who dared to speak up in the beginning were shut down, spat on and ridiculed and don’t wish to spend anymore energy coming to the aid of those that called them hateful and unreasonable.
