Lagos Assembly: Akande and Agunbiade faults #EndSARS ‘feeding’ for mass looting

Two lawmakers in the Lagos House of Assembly, Hon. Olusegun Akande and Hon. Sanai Agunbiade have faulted the #EndSARS feeding as cause for mass looting in the state and accross the country.

According to the lawmakers, the End SARS leaders should not have fed the protesters, especially the ‘miscrants’ among them and should have gone for dialogue irrespective.

Hon. Olusegun Akande believes it’s because the #EndSARS protesters were given food, that’s why it became violent.

“But what will you expect from somebody who does not have anything to eat – morning, night; or who does not even know when he is going to eat and you are providing them with with food, and you are expecting this to be peaceful, that is the beginning and the genesis of the problem.”

He added that the leaders should have gone for dialogue.

Hon. Sanai Agunbiade on the other hand, who went viral for ‘Birthday Palliative’ added influencers to the blame list.

Agunbiade ‘who was waiting for his birthday to share palliatives’ faults the sharing of food at the protests; blames social [media] influencers for “aggravating the crisis”.

According to him, the influencers spread more fake than what is real, he believes the movement was serious war againt Lagos state and that the masterminds must be fished out.

Hon. Sanai Agunbiade believes the aim of the movement is to keep ‘well-fed hungry people’ on the road.

“If we take the issue of Lekki as a case study, a lot of things played out. Social influencers agravated the crisis, they provoked a lot of situation and sent fake news outside the country.

“A scheme has been hashed with this #EndSARS and we must get to the root so that we don’t have a repeat of it…”

“You will see people who could not afford three square meal now eating comfortable meal on the road; its a way to mobilise people on the road and keep people on the road.”

Moreso, Hon. Desmond Elliot, believes social media, though done good, has its negative impact.

He once more calls on “celebrities” and “influencers” to stop the hate, adding that in the next five years, there will be no more Nigeria.

“When shall we change this narrative”, he asks.
