The Lagos State government, on Wednesday banned all religious gatherings involving over 50 worshipers.
The Government took the decision in agreement with religious leaders in the State.
The decision was passed in a communique read by the commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, after a meeting with religious leaders in the state at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa.
The State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Alexander Bamgbola and Grand Chief Imam of the state, Sheikh Suleiman Abou Nolla were among the religious leaders present at the press briefing.
“Hello everyone, In view of the pandemic Covid 19, we have all been advised to avoid social gatherings and for that reason, all cds activities have been suspended till further notice.”
“However, I’d like you all to note that the President of this Cds group acts according to whatever information that is being disseminated to him by me. I hereby endeavor each and every one of you to accord him the respect that he rightfully deserves.”
“Let this serve as a warning to everyone on this platform, as any unruly behavior would not be tolerated. Thank you.”
