Lagos Govt., Police grill Chrisland management, parents Dubai acts

Chrisland: 10-year-old pupil deletes social media videos, apologises

Officials of the Lagos State Education Quality Assurance and the Directorate of Public Prosecutions on Wednesday grilled the management of Chrisland Schools and parents of the pupils allegedly involved in sexual acts during the school’s trip to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

An impeccable source at the meeting said the interrogation started at 2.30pm and ended around 7.30pm.

The source told PUNCH that while none of the pupils was at the meeting, the school management, the parents and other parties would report at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, on Thursday.

Another source said Chrisland had petitioned the police and the government before the matter became public knowledge.

The source said, “Yes, they were at the Lagos State secretariat and it was a closed-door meeting. Chrisland petitioned the police last week; they wrote to the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police and the Ministry of Education before the video went viral on Monday.”

But mother of the 10-year-old girl involved in the incident was not at the meeting.

“Instead, she honoured the police invitation and she was interrogated. She was the only one the police interrogated.

“However, other parents, the school authorities and the teachers that went to Dubai with those children were at Alausa, the state secretariat.

“The police were supposed to be the first to interrogate them, but they attended the meeting with the government and that was where they spent all the time,” the source added.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the meeting with the state government.

“They have not reported at the State Criminal Investigations Department, Yaba. They should report tomorrow (Thursday),” he added.

A woman had alleged that her daughter was sexually abused during the school’s participation in the World School Games at Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

She also alleged that the school conducted a pregnancy test on her without parental consent.

A video clip of the act later went viral on Twitter on Monday.

The school authorities, while denying the allegations levelled by the woman, said all the pupils involved in the case had been disciplined.

The school noted that two pupils engaged in “immoral acts” during a game called ‘Truth or Dare.’

However, the Lagos State Government closed all Chrisland Schools in the state pending the outcome of investigation by security agents.
