Lalong presents N139.3bn 2023 budget proposal to Plateau Assembly

Plateau state Governor, Simon Lalong, said his administration planned to spend N139.3bn in the 2023 fiscal year.

 

The governor made this known, Friday, while presenting the 2023 budget of infrastructural consolidation and transition to the State House of Assembly, for consideration.

 

He said, “Having considered the plight of citizens, government is proposing to spend the sum of N139,357,144,980.38 only in the 2023 fiscal year.”

 

Lalong said the amount consists of N77.6bn only as recurrent expenditure representing 55.72% of the total budget, while N61.706bn only as capital component which represents 44.27% of the total budget.

 

“This shows an increase of N32,649,877,338.26 only on the 2022 approved estimate,” he said.

 

Lalong recalled that the 2022 budget had a recurrent estimate of N76.263bn only representing 71.4% of the total budget, whereas, the sum of N30.543bn only as capital budget estimate representing 28.6% of the total budget.

 

Lalong said Water Sanitation and Energy, tops with N14.977bn only representing 24.27% of the total capital estimate was allocated for the fiscal year.

 

He said education was second with N7.787bn only, representing 12.62%, of the total budget proposal for the 2023.
