Ekiti State University our citadel of knowledge is at the verge of transforming herself into a world class university of this current dispensation.

How will EKSU achieve this goal when lecturers won’t come to lecture rooms until two weeks to exams. Students don’t have a privilege of a week or two weeks without lectures to prepare for exams. What will be the outcome of their results as all known if you don’t read you can excel in exams.

The statistics of students failing courses would’ve reduced drastically if they have enough time for proper preparation.

The number of students especially the final year students who failed course annually are bout 60% of the entirely graduating students. Most of these failures are caused by lack of proper time for preparation.

On June 12 a democracy day which is a public holiday, in my school Ekiti State University is like a normal day as students are receiving lectures and doing tests. The school proposed June 17 for the  commencement of the 1st semester exams for staylites and lectures hasn’t ended yet till 15th of June.  Just two days to read and prepare. This shortage in time for better preparation will not only affect the students but also the school.

The number of students attempting suicide in our school has increased due to failures in some courses.

In our secondary schools, lectures ends 3 weeks to exams, and a week for revision while the students have two weeks for preparation how much more a higher institution of learning like ours but revise is the case here, lectures only stop a day to exam without revision classes with the students.

Another exam is coming now and lectures are still ongoing , I will suggests the Ekiti State University management looks into this and give the students a week to prepare for this coming exams since lectures are still going on. This won’t only helps the students to excel in their examinations but also helps the school to achieve her goals of becoming one of the world class university. This may also reduces the chance of students attempting suicide . It will also gives some students who are yet to complete their payments to do so . They would have done that but due to the fact that there’s no lecture free hours.

In conclusion, the students will be happy if this is done and their minds will be free to fully prepared for this coming exams.
