LASUSTECH to pay adjunct lecturers Thursday

The Lagos State University of Science and Technology, LASUSTECH, Ikorodu, has said it will pay its adjunct lecturers on Thursday (today).

The adjunct staff in a letter dated, March 1, 2023, to The PUNCH complained that the institution, which was formerly Lagos State Polytechnic, was owing them six months’ salary.

The letter read, “Adjunct staff of Lagos State University of Science and Technology formerly Lagos State Polytechnic are calling on Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to prevail on the management of the institution to pay up their outstanding six months claims for lecturing, invigilation, and marking.

“The aggrieved lecturers have met with the management several times without much progress.

“They are therefore demanding for justice from the State Government and urgently for that matter in view of the excruciating hardships prevailing in the land they, however, wish the governor a re-election as he faces the governorship elections.”

However, LASUSTECH Communication Director, Lanre Kuye, while reacting to the letter titled, ‘Lagos Polytechnic Adjunct staff calls for justice on outstanding payments’ in a chat said, “We are paying them today, the money has been approved and they will get their money today, unfailingly.”

Kuye confirmed that the management had engagements with the adjunct staff, saying LASUSTECH promised to pay them on Thursday.
