Kate Henshaw to INEC chairman’s aide: For how long will you make excuses for incompetence?

The elections were earlier scheduled to take place on October 31 but the violence that followed the demonstrations against police brutality forced the electoral commission to postpone the polls.

The violence forced many states — including places the elections are scheduled to take place — to impose curfews.

The bye-elections in Imo east, Lagos east, Cross River north and Plateau south are because those who won the legislative seats in the zones in the 2019 general election are deceased.

The former legislators occupying Bayelsa central and west have been elected as governor and deputy governor of the state.

Here is a list of the federal and state constituencies where the elections will take place:

  • Bayelsa central senatorial district
  • Bayelsa west senatorial districts
  • Cross River north senatorial district
  • Imo north senatorial district
  • Lagos east senatorial district
  • Plateau south senatorial district
  • Nganzai state constituency, Borno
  • Bayo state constituency, Borno
  • Obudu state constituency, Cross River
  • Kosofe II state constituency, Lagos
  • Bakura state constituency, Zamfara
  • Ibaji state constituency, Kogi
