Godwin Offor, a social media influencer and blogger, have advised the seventeen Southern governors who gathered in Asaba, Delta State to make the necessary law to bring into effect and operation the ban on open grazing in their states.
Mr Godwin said this in a statement made available to the fourth Estate of the realm.
He noted that it is one thing to verbally declare a ban on open grazing or to reach a resolution on it and another thing to make the enabling law to abolish it.
According to him, the importance of making prohibitive law and causing it to come into full operation cannot be overemphasized as it will put to an end the rampant complaints of farmers of the destruction of their farmlands and crops by herders’ cows, callous raping and killing of farmers on their farmlands, kidnapping, among other crimes associated with herders and farmers conflict.
He therefore called on the governors and their various state houses of assembly members to without delay pass a bill into law that will see to the immediate abolishment or abrupt end to the unceasing issue of open grazing so that peace will reign.
