A man, Marcin Zdun, has been charged by the Wiltshire Police, in Salisbury, England for murdering two women – believed to be his wife Aneta Zdun, 40, and daughter Nikoletta Zdun, 18.

The 39year-old was arraigned by police and appeared briefly at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Marcin Zdun was arrested after he attacked the attack the family’s home on Wessex Road on Monday afternoon.

Officers later discovered the body of Nikoleta, while her mum was found seriously injured, but despite desperate efforts by paramedics, she died shortly afterwards.

Witnesses said two distraught young girls were heard screaming in terror before they fled to safety and were consoled in the street by a concerned neighbor.

The wife, Aneta is said to have screamed “where are my children?!” in her dying moments.

Both victims are said to have had their throats slit and the attack is thought to have been launched inside the house.

Why Zdun reacted this way is unclear yet but responsive neighbours Nick and Jan Maher rushed and took the other little girls into their home to keep them safe, ordering Domino’s pizza for them and watching cartoons on Nickelodeon.

A catering company owner close by, Mr Maher, 59, said: “There was some noise and I thought it was kids playing… but it got louder, dramatically louder.”

“One of our neighbours was over the road with another guy and they pulled two kids out, which were the young daughters.”

“I thought they were having a fight at first but someone shouted ‘they’ve been stabbed, call the police’ so I went out and my wife and I grabbed the two children to put them in our house and keep them safe.”

Wiltshire Police previously said it received a call from a member of the public at 14:45 BST on Monday following concerns for people in a house.

DCI Darren Hannant from the Major Crime Investigation Team said after the suspect’s arrest: “Naturally people will be alarmed due to the large police presence in the area as we carry out our enquiries.”

“I would like to reiterate that we have made an arrest and there is no risk posed to the wider community.

A spokesman for Wiltshire police said Zdun had been charged with two counts of murder.

“Marcin Zdun, aged 39, from Wessex Road, Salisbury, has been charged with two counts of murder and will appear virtually, via video link, before Basingstoke magistrates this morning,” he said.

The spokesman said formal identification of the women had not yet been carried out but they were believed to be Mrs Zdun and her daughter.
