Miyetti Allah can help solve banditry, kidnapping problem – Sultan of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammed Sa’ ad Abubakar III, has opined that the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, can help resolve the insecurity crisis in the country.

Abubakar said the leadership of MACBAN can help put an end to the issue of banditry and kidnapping in Nigeria.

He spoke during the swearing-in of MACBAN’s new executives at the National Mosque Abuja.

According to the monarch: “Everybody knows that Fulani move from point A to B. They move everywhere and they intermarry. And we are peace loving.

“But how did we come to the situation we are in now, we find our children who are Fulani, but not all of them Fulani have been involved in banditry and kidnapping. What happened?

“When we meet with the executives we will discuss how to tackle this. How do we resolve them because it is high time we did.

“Over 48 years of this MACBAN, we need to have some new inputs and new ideas into the constitution.”

In recent times, Fulani herders have been associated with kidnapping and banditry in the country.

Armed Fulani herders have been accused of attacking farmers, sacking communities, and attacking religious centres across the country.

These armed herders are said to have realized billions as ransom from their banditry activities.
