Mummy GO, Pentecostalism and Us

Mummy GO, Pentecostalism and Us

In July 2020, I wrote about some major flaws of Pentecostalism. I mentioned in particular the subjectivism- (the enthronement of individual/personal religious experiences, interpretations and idiosyncrasies as dogmas/truths), the dictatorship of relativism and the caricature of God. Some persons were not happy about it and we engaged ourselves for a period of time. I am sure by now; they understand perfectly what I wrote (back then) especially with the advent of our dear mummy G.O and other charlatans who parade themselves as preachers of the Gospel.

My issue this time is the continuous contempt these so-called evangelists lash on Christianity. Christianity has now become a tool at the hands of psychotics and mentally-challenged persons. I will not be surprised if by 2050, religion is listed among the newly discovered mental disorders in psychology or medicine. The number of “sick preachers” has suddenly increased. At first, we thought it was a joke but now we have seen that this is no joke, it is becoming a reality.

What is CAN really doing about this? Should there not be some regulatory sanctions on these “dramatic psychotic preachers”? While you cannot control what someone preaches, should we now allow madness in the guise of preaching? We may laugh about all these people as we- Nigerians normally do about everything. But these people consciously or unconsciously redefine what we call Christianity in our time. Even when we know that what they say is as incoherent as they say it; yet, these jargons settle in us and redefine disdainfully our relationship with God. They encourage us to become as gullible as the things they say. They present Christianity as irrational and unintelligible- something for dummies. They promote confusions that birth various shades of atheism and irreligion. In sum, they make us (Christians) look like clowns and reduce the salvific message of Christ to sheer nonsense!

Let us talk about their congregations- including us who watch them and “catch cruise” with them. We are culprits of their insanity and falsehood. How does someone who has “sense” sit under the “ministration” of people who should be in hospitals receiving mental care? How do we laugh and cheer ourselves with such distasteful garbage?

My dear! Always remember 2 Timothy 4:3-5. Christianity is intelligible, don’t be fooled by anyone! Seek, you will find! Study, you will know!
