Muslim Teachers Not Rejected in Christian Schools – Oyo CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged the leadership of the National Assembly to suspend a bill before the House of Representatives seeking to institutionalise the use of hijab in the country. It said the bill is ill-timed and uncalled for. “The bill titled: ‘Religious Discrimination (Prohibition, Prevention) Bill, 2021’ is seeking to provide a mechanism for enforcing certain provisions of the Constitution and other international laws that recognise the right of female to adorn hijab in public and private establishments.

The Oyo State chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), on Thursday, faulted the reports in some quarters that some newly-recruited teachers posted to some Christian schools were rejected.

This also came as the Christian body lauded strides of Governor Seyi Makinde of the state in various sectors of the economy, ranging from infrastructural development, security, employment of thousands of teachers, prompt payment of salaries and pensions to amicable resolutions of various crises in the state.

These were part of resolutions reached at the end of the General Assembly meeting of CAN which was hosted by the Atiba Local Government chapter of the body at the Cathedral of St. Michael, Esiele, Oyo Town.
