N4billion: Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo sues Jackson Ude for Defarmation; Orders arrest

N4billion: Nigerian Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, has sued Jackson Ude, an online journalist, for Defamation of Character.

Recall Mr Jackson Ude on accused the Vice-President of collecting N4billion from Magu, the same day President Buhari lefte Nigeria – he says from a reliable Magu, as part of his confession.

He tweeted “Vice President Osinbajo collected N4billion from Ibrahim Magu the very day President Buhari left Nigeria to UK on his last medical trip. This is part of the confessions made by Magu. More revelations coming!”

In response to this, VP Yemi Osinbajo, represented by Prof. Taiwo Osipitan SAN, has written a petition to the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, demanding the probe of Jackson Ude, who is also the publisher of an online medium, Point Blank News.

The petition dated July 8, 2020, is titled, ‘Criminal Defamation of the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), GCON by Jackson Ude’.

The Vice-President said Ude was in the habit of publishing malicious articles against his person. He subsequently attached printed copies of some of the blogger’s reports to the petition.

Osinbajo said the articles were defamatory and capable of bringing him to ridicule before members of the public.

He called on the IG to probe the blogger with a view to prosecuting him for criminal defamation

In response, Jackson Ude says he is not afraid, saying if he wants to go to court, he needs resign first.

“I am not afraid of Osinbajo and his minions. If he indeed wants to go to court, he needs to resign first, and sue me. He cannot be VP and be using state resources to intimidate the Judiciary. He cannot wave an immunity that he didn’t place. Osinabjo should resign first!”

The accusation all started with the Tweeter Thread – IBRAHIM MAGU COULD NOT ACCOUNT FOR N39BILLION: A Thread:

“Embattled former acting Chairman of the EFCC stole so much that he could not account for N39BILLION, gave Osinabjo N4billion, after the VP gave instructions to him to release some of the recovered loots.” It started.

“Sold recovered properties, vehicles, houses. Specifically 167 recovered trucks missing from its Portharcourt office, could not account for 27 recovered sold this year. Admitted flagrantly defying Act setting the EFCC up which stipulates he reports to the supervisory ministry.

“Ignoring requests of assistance to investigate and recover about 67b by sister agencies including the office of the IG and the presidency. Confessed Movement of important records/files from efcc HQT between 12 midnight and 4 am Tuesday by his boys.

“Could not account for missing 37b as indicated in the submitted report of the presidential asset recovery panel headed by the chairman of the FIRS.

“Specifically mentioned a N4b that he released to the VP based on directives the very day the president left the country for UK on medical treatment.

“Magu was head strong on Monday when he was picked up. Investigators said he refused to speak on any issue they asked. On Tuesday, when they showed him documents and evidences, he started confessing. He is now begging for soft landing, an investigator said.” It concluded.
