Following the postponement of the 20th edition of the National Sports Festival, earlier scheduled to hold in Edo State from March 22 to April 1, 2020, the Edo State Government has directed schools across the state to disregard the initial announcement of an amendment of schools’ calendar in the state.
In a statement, Commissioner for Education, Hon. Jimoh ljegbai, urged schools in the state to maintain the original school calendar to the effect that 2nd term vacation commences on the 3rd of April, 2020.
According to ljegbai, “It is hereby announced for the benefit of the general public, particularly Public and Private Primary and Post Primary Schools that the National Sports Festival has been postponed.
“The public is hereby notified that the earlier announcement regarding the amendment of the school calendar is hereby cancelled.”
The commissioner added, “Consequently, Public and Private Schools are to follow the original school calendar to the effect that 2nd term vacation commences on the 3rd of April, 2020 as originally scheduled, while the 3rd term resumption date remains 27th April 2020”
