NBC STAFF PROTEST AGAINST KAWU MODDIBO IN ABUJA, DEMAND HIS RESIGNATION TO PAVE WAY FOR TRANSPARENT PROSECUTION

Over One Hundred Staff of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) have taken to the streets of Abuja and through NBC office complex, to demand immediate resignation of Mallam Ishiaq Kawu Moddibo, the DG NBC who’s currently facing corruption charges alongside some of his accomplices who allegedly conspired to defraud the Federal Government of N2.5Billion disco fund.

On Friday, a man who identified himself as Yunusa Rikoto; a level 14 officer of the NBC led other hundreds of staff of NBC in protest against what they tagged, continuous use of DG’s office to influence court processes and frustrate ICPC corruption probe in court.

Yunusa Rikoto who is the Chief Monitoring Officer, in the Directorate of Monitoring of the NBC granted Interview to journalist while hundreds of NBC staff bare placards with the following Bold inscriptions:

NBC STAFF PROTEST AGAINST KAWU MODDIBO IN ABUJA, DEMAND HIS RESIGNATION TO PAVE WAY FOR TRANSPARENT PROSECUTION

NBC under Kawu is a sinking Ship

Modibbo Kawu, where is 2.5Billion DSO Fund squandered by you and your co-thieves?

Modibbo Kawu must go!!!

NBC has lost respect under Kawu among media houses.

Rikoto answering question from a journalist says, “Nobody is talking about how it is paid. I implore all investigating agencies to come to NBC to investigate all the fund that Kawu have squandered alongside his accomplices in crime.”

“Anybody who knows NBC, I am Yunusa Nari Rikoto, Staff of the National Broadcasting Commission. The chief Monitoring Officer for that matter, Level 14. If I can come out to protest against the maladministration of my organization, that has touched my heart. Look at me, I am more than 40 years, I fear nothing. I know with this, he will victimize me but I don’t care. Let Justice be done. That is all what we are asking for.” he continued.

When further asked by the Interviewer whether he knows the corruption case he protesting against is currently in court, Rikoto responded; “I am very very much aware. The case is lingering because the man is using one political personality or the other to squash the case. Big politicians and his cabals in the Villa who are shielding him from court processes.

The protesters also expressed worries that the court case was taking too long and Kawu may be enjoying some protection by, in their words, “cabal” in the presidency who may be influencing the prosecution.

The placard bearers were chanting in the background….”Kawu is a thief! Kawu is a thief! He must go! He must go!”.

Kawu Moddibo and his supporters who felt so embarrassed by this protest, however transfered their angers on Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the vice President Yemi Oshibanjo and aides of Lai Mohammed as hands behind the protest.

Some of Kawu Moddibo men have allegedly been sponsoring different social media blackmails on several mediums against the duo of Lai Mohammed and Professor Oshibanjo. Also accused in the frivolous write up include Williams Adeleye and Segun Adeyemi both whom are aides to the honorable minister.

One of such post on Nairaland reads, “Those who want Kawu out of the NBC have been making frantic efforts to instigate things against him by sponsoring a protest since he brought the different reforms that the commission is now enjoying on board. Realised that they cannot achieve their agenda through court (as most of the allegations are frivolous), the traducers have resorted to instigation of staff of the commission to lead a huge protest against Kawu Moddibo who’s the head of commission”.

Kawu Moddibo and his supporters also alleged one Armstrong Idacahba whom they claimed is aiming to take Moddibo Position as working with others to frustrate him out of office.

“If you look they were covering their faces. The only staff of NBC, Yinusa Rikoto, who addressed the rented crowd is a well known boy of Armstrong Idachaba who was recently transferred to the directorate of Broadcast policy and Research. Idachaba has been promised the position of DG by the information minister, Lai Mohammed. Rikito is therefore only doing Idachaba’s bid. There are others behind this protest too. It is instructive to note that many people who got the videos of the protest said they got it from Godfrey Ohuabuwa. He even wanted to put it on the BON website but was turned down.”

Lai Mohammed who’s being accused by Kawu Moddibo and his supporters has continuously failed to appear in court as a prosecuting witness in his ongoing trial on order not to further implicate him in a suit dragged to court by the ICPC.
