Former President, Shehu Shagari is dead.
His death was announced evening of Friday, 28th December by his grandson, Bello Shagari.
He died, according to Bello, after a brief illness at Abuja National Hospital.
“I regret announcing the death of my grandfather, H.E Alhaji Shehu Shagari, who died right now after brief illness at the National hospital, Abuja.”
Alhaji Shehu Usman Aliyu Shagari died at age 93. He was Nigeria’s President between 1979 and 1983.

He was born on February 25, 1925.
Shagari came to power on October 1, 1979 and he was overthrown on December 31, 1983. He was arrested and later regained his freedom on January 18, 1986.
