Nigeria Police defends statement – “Social Media is a technology available to those that are criminal minded”

The Nigeria Police Force on Monday, 23rd July, through a press release defends statement  by IGP that states, “Social Media is a technology available to those that are criminal minded”, replacing it with “social media can also be used by criminal minded persons”.

In same statement released by Police Public Relations Officer, Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood, the force is calling on all  social media practitioners and users to “disregard and discountenance the story.”
He concluded saying the “Nigeria Police Force is social media friendly and will continue to partner with Social Media practitioners and Users in ensuring adequate protection of Life and Property across the Country.”
