Ahead of the 2019 General Election set to hold on Saturday, 16th February, the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) National Secretariat has opened an Elections Situation Room at their headquarters in Abuja.
While inaugurating the Situation Room on Friday, 15th February, the NUJ National President, Chris Isiguzo, cautioned journalists to be mindful of their environments and avoid all dangerous areas. He urged them to study areas of duty assigned to them and to work together with other colleagues in groups.
Isiguzo also expressed confidence in the ability of journalists to carry out their assignments professionally and also appealed to agents of the state and all other stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of media professionals and equipment.

He also called on all journalists on election duty and public to report all acts of impunity against the media acting contrary.
