Nigerian film PATCH wins SDGs in Action film festival by United Nations.

A Nigerian film, PATCH has been selected by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs as one of the six winners of the “SDGs in Action” film festival.

The film is scheduled to be screened during the United Nations High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development on 11th July 2018, between 6:30 – 8:30pm, at UN Headquarters in New York.

Only six films were selected for this world-wide.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations is a  film festival which objective “is to showcase effective and innovative actions and solutions to create positive change and accelerate the
implementation of the six SDGs that are under in-depth review at the
HLPF, as well as the other SDGs, given the inter-linages among the SDGs. It also aims to highlight the importance as well as to recognize  and celebrate the diversity of individual actions and approaches that can
be taken to support the implementation of the SDGs.”

Some of their goals are:
– Ensure availability and sustainable management of water
and sanitation for all
– Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
– Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
– Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns
– Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt
biodiversity loss.
