#NorthIsBleeding: Group Begs Southerners To Join Protests Against Banditry

A civil rights group, Take It Back Movement has called on all Nigerians in the South to join Northerners in their campaign against killings in the region.

The group said that there are Igbos and Yorubas living in the North, and as such activists in the South should join the #NorthIsBleeding protests.

The agenda is to destroy the North, and then take over the whole country. They will impose all sorts of violence on the people through fake religious beliefs.

“This is why everyone, no matter your ethnicity or religion, must rise in protest to put a permanent end to the massive insecurity and bloodletting that has engulfed the entire North.

“Some are saying Northerners should be left alone. But even in Bauchi, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Borno; are there no Igbos and Yorubas who have invested all their livelihoods there?

“What about the millions of poor people who neither support nor believe in the cruel oligarchy? What about the millions that are being displaced hourly by Boko Haram, ISWAP, and bandits?

“If we allow terrorists to take over the North, how safe are others in the South? The best is for all of us to rise, forget about our differences, and fight together as one!

Meanwhile, Police on Wednesday 15th, in Abuja arrested some Northern youths who protested against the insecurity in the zone, demanding an end to the killings going on in the northern region.

The peaceful protesters tagged #NorthIsBleeding were taken away to the FCT Police Command headquarters.

The police also arrested the Journalists while covering the protest.

According to the human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, the police after arresting the peaceful protesters went ahead to brutalise them.

He wrote on Twitter, “After brutalising #NorthIsBleeding protesters arrested in Abuja @PoliceNG dehumanising them further at the FCT police command! #SecureNorth #RevolutionNow #Buharimustgo.”

Recall that the police had earlier arrested two protesters and two journalists with Roots TV in Abuja in the ongoing #NorthIsBleeding protest.

The protesters had on Wednesday morning staged the massive protest at the Nigerian Labour House popular known as Ayuba Wabba House, Central Area while asking the labour leaders to join in the campaign in demanding an end to the killings going on in the northern region.

Meanwhile, Sowore had also joined the protest in solidarity while addressing the protesters to reject and cry out against the killings.

He had called on President Muhammadu Buhari to wake from his slumber and stop the carnage in all parts of the country.

But the police violently disrupted the peaceful rally as protesters were about to terminate the protest under the Area 1 bridge.

Two protesters had been beaten to a stupor in the process after which they were whisked into a Hilux van.

Also, the crew from Roots TV including a cameraman, Tosin, and a reporter, Precious and the driver were arrested while covering the protest.

They were taken to the FCT Police Command headquarters.
