NPFL: End Plateau United unbeaten run, Ologun charges Sunshine Stars

Otunba Dele Ologun, Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, on Wednesday 30th March, 2022 joined the Sunshine Stars in an early morning training. The Commissioner had a briefing with the players and coaching crew. He urged players of Sunshine Stars FC to end Plateau United FC’s unbeaten run in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Sunshine Stars FC will begin the second stanza of the NPFL with a home match against Plateau United FC at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, on Sunday.

Plateau United enjoys unbeaten run in the last 10 matches in the first stanza.

Ologun made the appeal while addressing players and management of the club at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, ahead of the crucial encounter.

The commissioner urged the players to put in their best as they were also marketing themselves, directly and indirectly.

The Commissioner said, there will be continuous effort to ensure better performance and to discover new talents at the grassroots.

“I want to challenge you, go there and do all your best to win that match as you are playing for Sunshine Stars; you are playing for yourself too.

“Super Eagles players started from somewhere, but today, they are doing well for themselves. Whatever support we can give, we will,” he said.

Otunba Ologun said that the bid for the rehabilitation of the stadium will end on Friday, while the proper work will begin as soon as possible.

The Captain of the team, Abe Sunday appreciated Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN for ensuring prompt payment of their salary and match bonus. He urged all stakeholders in the state to support the team to win more games in the second stanza of the league. He equally appreciated the Commissioner for the motivational and crucial visit for the task ahead. He promised on behalf of the team to emerge victorious and possibly win the league.
