The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Edo State joins the Edo State Government to congratulate all workers in the state on the occasion of this year’s Workers Day, specially hails the young workforce for their dedication to service and contributions to the development of the state over the years. The council, chaired by Comrade Osahon Obasuyi, advises the working class youth to take their jobs seriously with utmost integrity and best practices.
The state’s apex youth organization commends the organised labour, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) as well as other affiliates in Edo, for the understanding and cordial working relationship that exists between the unions and the government, urging them to sustain the act.
NYCN Edo recognize and appreciate the Edo State Government for it’s efforts over the years in providing more jobs for the young people of the state. However, we seize the opportunity of this May Day to urge the government to still mobilize more of it’s energies and initiatives in providing adequate and innovative spaces for youth employment, because more of such spaces equals to more empowered young people in the state.
In the same vein, the NYCN also calls on the government to remain committed and further prioritize the welfare and wellbeing of workers in Edo state. Only through this are we going to experience higher productivity of workers.
As this year’s May Day comes during the time the world is being ravaged by Covid-19, the council appeals to workers of the state to strongly continue to observe all the preventive measures against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly, regular washing of hands, use of hand sanitizers, the use of face masks and observance of social distancing at workplaces. As well as abide by every other law passed by the state government as measures to flatten the curve of the virus.
Happy Workers Day.
Signed:
Comrade Charles Osagie.
