A former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has expressed displeasure in the process and eventual outcome of the Lagos West Senatorial primary election.
Former Lagos State Deputy Governor, Idiat Adebule, emerged winner of the primary election with the highest votes of 424, while Obanikoro got 119 votes and former Commissioner for Transport, Kayode Opeifa, scored four votes.
In a statement shortly after the exercise, his campaign organisation said the exercise was fraught with intimidation and other malpractices, which according to it, will be addressed in due course.
The former minister reiterated his earlier stand that the acclaimed winner was not even qualified to stand for the election, saying: “This is because she did not participate in the electoral process of obtaining the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, nor did she participate in the screening.
“Therefore, it is obvious that the exercise was designed to favour the acclaimed winner.”
