The presentation was held to mark the 70th birthday of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain.

It was earlier postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his remarks, Obasanjo, who was also chairman of the occasion, expressed surprise that Akala faulted him in the memoir.

“I wonder how you come on page 139 of your book to blame or criticize me for dividing the Ibadan-Ilorin Road into three sections for reconstruction during my second term so that it could be expeditiously completed,” he said.

The former Nigerian leader said he understood that Akala was concerned as an Ogbomoso man.

“But when I took the steps which I took for the road to be expeditiously handled, it was not for your interest as an Ogbomosho man but for the economic life of Nigeria, and it is tragic that the artery road is in the sorry state it is today,” the retired General added.

The event was attended by Ekiti Governor, Kayode Fayemi; Oyo Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan; Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare; Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, and many other dignitaries.
