Obaseki denied access to Buhari, PDP opens Door for him.

Information reaching ChrisOsaMedia indicates that the embattled and outgoing Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki was been denied access to Mr. President after seeking emergency audience to discuss the mode of primary election he prefers in the state, for the forthcoming June 22 Edo APC Primaries.

According to Punch, the APC NWC have since adopted direct primary election for the Edo governorship. However, the embattled Governor of the state seems not to be pleased with the decision of the Party considering the fact that he’s not in good terms with majority members of the party, this led him to seek other ways to ensure he mounts enough pressure on the NWC to reverse its decision on direct primaries. The Governor has equally made moves to see some few and “very powerful” stakeholders of the party to help him buy his way.

First it was the former Governor of Lagos State and National leader of the APC, Senator Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, popularly known as Jagaban who of course did not not grant the embattled Governor any audience considering his continuous disrespect and arrogance towards party leaders and party authorities.

Governor Obaseki then proceeded to Abuja in an attempt to see Mr. President, this also was a huge disappointment as the President, as at yesterday could not grant him audience. It was gathered that Obaseki is still in Abuja deducing plans on next line of action to take to enable him get the president’s attention.

In another development, Obaseki who of course have since lost the support of party members and have suddenly become a stranger to Edo APC, has been allegedly invited by the PDP to contest their upcoming primary election in the state

In view of this, the PDP has clear basis for which Obaseki would be allowed to contest in the party’s governorship primary, as they do not intend to give it out without a formal contest.

PDP’s zonal vice-chairman (South-South), Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, who spoke in Benin City said the Governor will be welcomed to join them, as he will be given opportunity to contest in the PDP primaries.

Speaking in Benin, Chief Ogbidi said; “If Governor Obaseki comes, we will take him. We can’t drive anybody from entering. Our doors are wide opened.

“I am not, however, aware that he has started negotiations with us with a view to defecting. “If the governor has seen the light and wants to come to the PDP, he is welcome,” he added.

“There is going to be primary. The PDP does not award. If you win the primary, you become the candidate.

“We have started selling forms. The sale of forms ends on Friday. After that we screen. After then, we go for primary and whoever wins is the party’s candidate,” said the PDP Zonal Vice Chairman.
