EDO 2020 : OBASEKI IS PLANTING THE SEED YAM AND NOT EATING IT . . . IDUORIYEKEMWEN

OBASEKI IS PLANTING THE SEED YAM AND NOT EATING IT – – With the commitment of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conducting the governorship elections in both EDO and ONDO states in few months time, parties and stakeholders are quitely moving and playing the ostrich game ahead of the varrious Party primaries.

In Edo state, there have been reports of moves to perfect strategies within the ruling APC to approach the main election with an undivided house.

The move is more visible among the “faction” popularly referred to as the Edo Peoples’ Movement (EPM) Which has no fewer than five of it’s members aspiring to be governor of the state.

Reports have it that this group has not been able to come to terms with the possibility of presenting a “unity” or “consensus” candidate to challenge the incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki in securing the party’s flag at the primaries.

This has kept political watchers guessing the likely outcome of the party primary as it concerns the ruling APC.

Matthew Iduoriyekemwen is the chairman, APC State Mobilization Committee, in a chat with SPARKNEWS NAIJA said the party primaries will be conducted in the larger interest of the party and the people of Edo state without injuries.

He said everyone aspiring to be governor of Edo state are prominent sons of the state who are believed to have a burning desire to see Edo state grow.

He said the seeming crisis in the APC in Edo state “will be resolved in favour of the people and not in the favour of any individual, stressing that Edo state has long desired growth in all spheres, a solid foundation of which is currently been laid by Governor Godwin Obaseki.”

The former Commissioner representing Edo state on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) said “the governor is planting the yamseed ahead of a bountiful harvest, while some elements in the party wants him to eat the seed up without planting for the future.”

Matthew Iduoriyekemwen said “governor Obaseki has touched all the facets of the polity. Roads are been constructed, structures are springing up everywhere, Edo work force are better now and can compete with their federal contemporaries, teachers and students are better off now.”

It is however ” an unknown political intrigue and postulation for a coach or a party to bench it’s goal scoring player for an untested and unrated player”.

“Obaseki has made Edo state the major construction site in the south- south, as projects are going on everywhere” says MAJOR, as he is popularly called.

He therefore enjoined Party members to join hands with the governor to drive home his “matching forward the state project” in the interest of all as well as securing the future of our dear state.
