Obika Attends Utonwanne Age Grade Outing, Ogbunike

The manager of I-Witness Media Office, Chief Chidiebele Obika recently attended the outing of the newest age grade in Ogbunike, Utonwanne Azu Village, Oyi Local Government Area.

The event which took place on 1st January, 2021 saw the presence of interesting people.

Obika in his remarks pointed out that the outing was an age long tradition of Ndigbo used in maintaining the peace, development and unity of towns.

“Age grades take up developmental projects for the benefit of the people. Some schools, town halls and other institutions like markets you see today around Ana Igbo were built by age grades”.

“What we are witnessing today is the birth of another engine room of the society. The age bracket which ranges from those born in 1987 to 1992 have the energy to impact any society”, Obika said.

He therefore congratulated one of the members of Utonwanne and a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on Media, Hon. Chuks Uloka and the father of the age grade, Dr. Harris Chuma Odili on the success of the event.

Earlier in his remarks, Dr. Odili thanked God for the successful outing while maintaining that ndigbo should not allow our culture die.

Dr. Harris congratulated Utonwanne members and urged them to among other things maintain peace in the community, take up developmental projects and execute on behalf of the town and impact the society positively.

In conclusion, Hon. Odili pledged the sum of two hundred thousand Naira (N200,000) to the group for their ongoing Azu Village hall development in the town.

In his vote of thanks, Comrade Chuks Uloka, SSA on Media appreciated his guests for finding time to identify with him and the group.

Uloka in a special way thanked Governor Willie Obiano and Wife, Dr. Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano for the opportunity to serve in the administration and pledged to continue showcasing the programmes of the government to the people.

Dignitaries present at the occassion include: Hon. Harrison Madubueze, Hon. Lady Afoma Obiedo, Lady Adaeze Ojiugo Anaezionwu, Mss. Ogechukwu Ibemesi, Hon. Emeka Okafor among others.
