Trendy Prophet, Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, best known as Odumeje has been petitioned by traditional worshipers in Awka, Anambra State.

The group – Ozo Nwibe Nwosu (Otochula-Awka), Ozo Awka Society, Ndi Ichie Awka and Chief Priest of Imo-Awka Shrine, are petitioning Prophet Odumeje for causing confusion in their community.

The group have accused Odumeje of abuse of elders and obstruction of tradition – a breach of the 1999 Constitution, Federal Republic of Nigeria – the freedom of worship.

Ozo Nwibe Nwosu (Otochula-Awka), Ozo Awka Society, Ndi Ichie Awka and Chief Priest of Imo-Awka Shrine, says, with viral video evidence, that Odumeje “refered to them as foolish and stupid people for having monkey as their idol that should not be touched or harmed by anybody.”

The elders say this statement has caused a fraction between the ‘Christains’ and ‘Traditional worshipers’ in their community, as one is working hard to destroy their shrine, while the other is planning of destroying church.

“Sir, we have carefully considered the implications of the unwarranted attack on our clients by the said prophet and came to the inevitable conclusion that there is no basis both in law and morality fr the prophet scathing remarks against our clients. The statements were not only reckless and unguarded but also capable of causing serious breach of peace of unimaginable proportion if care is not taken by relevant authority. It is the turn of our clients today, who knows whoes turn tomorrow?”

The group represented by Ebelechukwu Nwafor & Co., also added that, “The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria(1999 as amended) guarantees Freedom of Worship; no religion is superior to other, and as such, no person is permitted under our law to castigate, impugn, malign or even to treathen to deal with other religion or culture in other to promote his own religion or mode of worship.”

“This is why we find the action of the so called Prophet against our clients very distasteful and a clear violation of our law.”

“Sir, since the video containing the attack on our clients went viral, our clients have been greately enraged, everywhere in the community is tensed and may likely burst any moment from now.”

“Some sections of our clients are puzling for action against the prophet or any person found to be his adherient in the community. Some are even threatening to attack his church for villfying their cheerisher cluture which has been in existence beyon human memory.

“On the other hand, some indigenes and non-indigenes of Awka who are adherent of the prophet, after hearing the preaching are now threatening to set Imo-Awka shrine ablaze.”

The group is therefore, calling of the Nigeria Police force, while copying the DSS, to come handle the matter.

Ebelechukwu Nwafor & Co. says, “This situation will obliviously cause breakdown of law and order in our clients society.”

“In the line of the above circumstances, we hereby implore you to wade into diligent investigation into this matter with a view to bringing the Prophet to book in line with the laws of our land.”

“We anticipate your usual prompt response to matters of this nature.”
