Of Gboluga, the aggrieved and the will of God – Ondo 2020

The picking of Hon. Gboluga Ikengboju as the Deputy Governorship candidate of the PDP, has no doubt generated some storms in the major opposition party, PDP, especially in the southern Senatorial District of the State. Most of Gboluga’s critics are nursing personal grudges as a result of an alleged deficiency leveled against him as the incumbent Member House of Representatives representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency.

Most of these aggrieved leaders who do not have anything particularly offensive against Eyitayo Jegede, the Governorship candidate of the PDP, have indeed vowed to ensure that they take their pounds of flesh from Gboluga by working against him and his principal in the election.

Since Gboluga had been picked, himself and Jegede have been moving around waiving the olive branch to persuade and appeal to the aggrieved individuals to forgive and work for the party, but all appear to have been in vain. In order to make real their vows, the aggrieved persons have been leaving the party for other parties, ostensibly to see to the downfall of the PDP. This is a worrisome development! While I concede to them their right to be aggrieved; as well as join any other party of their choice, it is my considered opinion that they shouldn’t have taken it too far. In party politics, like other spheres of life, mistakes are bound to be made, at times, wrong decisions do happen. In the same vein, politicians could be aggrieved, but not to react without considering the overall interest of the Party. They can disagree but not be disagreeable.

It is an irony that most times, Nigerian politicians are not future looking in decision making both officially and personally. These are some of the hydra headed problems bedevelling our political landscape in Nigeria. When decisions are taken that do not go down well with someone, a good party man would submit to it, brace up and adjust for the success of the party, as there is nothing to share in zero.

Conclusively, the will of God is sacrosanct and nobody can change it.

We as politicians should always put God’s factor into consideration in whatever we do, and we should also learn from history. If you vow that because of Gboluga that PDP will not win the next election and if that is not the will of God, certainly, the will of God will prevail.

Therefore, I passionately urge anyone who is still aggrieved over the furore generated by the choice of Gboluga Ikengboju to please sink his/her differences and forgive both Eyitayo Jegede and Gboluga Ikengboju in the name of God. This the least we can all do for posterity, the suffering masses of the state whom Eyitayo Jegede is poised to liberate, and for the sake of our party, PDP.

TOGETHER WE ASPIRE, TOGETHER WE CONQUER.
