Ogun citizens, workers charged to acquire Int’l certifications on project management

The Ogun State government has charged it’s citizens to acquire international training and certification in order to remain relevant and be competitive in their professional pursuit.

 

The Special Assistant to the Governor of Ogun State on ICT, Hon. Olakunle Akibola, gave the charge at a-day training on Project Management Awareness Program organized for Youths, Business Owners and Civil Servants by Newwaves Ecosystem and Infocareer, India with the support of Bureau of Information Technology (BIT) at Ogun TechHub, Kobape, Abeokuta.

 

Hon. Akibola emphasized the need for individuals to key into opportunities embedded in getting certified by Project Management Institute, USA, saying government has made it accessible for all with proposed partnership with Newwaves Ecosystem and Infocareer India, who would basically offer supervised training for interested participants before registering them for International certificate examination, to become Certified Project Managers.

 

In his address, Chief Enabling Officer (CEO), Newwaves Ecosystem, Engr. Femi Williams said being an Indigenous Technology company which specializes in Software development, Digital Transformation, Cyber Security and Infrastructure among others; the organisation chose to be part of digitalization and evolution based program of Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration in the state.

 

According to him, the successful introduction of the first Virtual Meeting and Web-Conferencing Platfrom in Nigeria, Konn3ct, is a testament of the key role Project Management plays in top organisations and firms around the globe.

 

The platform Konn3ct is a web audio and video tool with extensive features suitable for webinars, conferences, social and religious events.

 

Engr. Williams called on the government to support its workforce and youths to embrace the project certification course to attain International standard.

 

The training consultant, Founder and Managing Director of Infocareer, Mr. Avdivaragan Chandrasekaran appreciated the partnership, saying it is high time employees acquired leadership, power, collaborative and innovative skills to influence opportunities for their careers in order to compete favourably anywhere in the world.

 

The hybrid event was hosted on konn3ct platform and attended by over 150 people including the President of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Prof. Adesina Sodiya, the President of Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABEOCCIMA), Sir. Jare Oyesola, Deputy Chairman of Nigeria Computer Society Ogun State Chapter, Prof. Vincent, and representatives of Ministries, Agencies and Department of government, Small and Medium Scale business owners.
