Ogun civil service commission Boss speaks on essence of promotion

The Chairman, Ogun State Civil Service Commission, Engr. Tokunbo Odebunmi, said it is essential for workers to leave up to expectations in the discharge of their duties in order to enjoy the promotion.

Odebunmi disclosed this in Abeokuta, while monitoring the oral interview for eligible Civil/Public Servants in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government for the year 2021 and 2022 promotion, saying productivity and effective service delivery were the hallmarks of good governance in any society.

According to Odebunmi, ‘’the notion of it is normal for officers to be promoted should be erased as all workers should live up to expectations in discharging their primary duties’’.

The Chairman, according to the Commission’s Press Officer, Mrs. Fatimah Alatishe, noted that the commencement of the promotion exercise was necessary to know the areas of workers’ strengths, weaknesses and capabilities, adding that the gesture would improve diligence, enhance performance and boost morale.

He appreciated the management of the agencies visited for their coordination and preparedness in making the exercise a success, urging them to do all necessary processes on the rules and regulations guiding ‘’Leave of Absence’’ to enable the Commission to know where there were vacancies.

Engr. Odebunmi also charged Officers in the State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) to see themselves as paramilitaries and perform their responsibilities diligently, to rid the State roads of crashes.
