Ogun Govt. Convocates over 200 female coders in three years

Determined to eradicate idleness and curb social vices amongst women, Ogun state Government in the last three years has Convocated over 200 female Coders after taking them through free training tagged “Abocoders Classes”.

 

Special Adviser to the Governor on ICT Mr Dayo Abiodun disclosed this during the 5th convocation ceremony of 43 Abocoders, held at Ogun TechHub, Kobape, Abeokuta.

 

Abiodun revealed that female coding classes was a collaboration between Ogun Bureau of Information Technology (BIT) and a Non- Governmental organisation, Aspillos Foundation, towards exposing women to income generation activities hidden in ICT.

 

The Special Adviser reiterated commitment of the Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration to make the state an Information Communication Technology (ICT) hub of Nigeria, noting that expertise in ICT would reduce unemployment amongst the women folk.

 

He noted Governor Abiodun’s initiative of changing the perception about women being relegated to the kitchen, stating that the training classes was a way of developing women in ICT skills for income generation.

 

While presenting gifts of Digital Tablets to the top three most performing graduands, the Adviser admonished them to reciprocate government’s investment on them by putting into use all they have learnt in a profitable way.

 

Speaking on behalf of other graduands Damilola, Obisesan appreciated the state government, saying that the training had equiped them in all areas of their lives.

 

The training covered among others, web development and data science.
