Ogun Seeks For Adequate Security On Land Matters

The Chairman, Judicial Commission of Enquiry set up to review land allocation and documentation, as well as various illegal land dealings, Justice Solomon Olugbemi, (Rtd.), has requested adequate for security personnel, to ensure the safety of lives throughout its sitting period.

Justice Olugbemi made the request at a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner of Police, in Abeokuta, saying it was necessary for security officers to man the venue of the meeting, as influential people would be appearing on regular basis.

He stated that inquiries through the Commissioner of Police and his team were paramount, as they were saddled with the duty of investigation, seeking for the cooperation of the police officers to enable the Commission to achieve its objectives.

“As we have a retired Commissioner of Police as a member of the Commission, I believe there will be no challenge as regards Police presence. An official letter of request is with us and will be duly delivered to the Commissioner of Police”, he said.

In his address, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Lanre Bankole stated that there were lots of issues relating to lands emanating on regular basis, noting that with the establishment of the Commission, such matters would be a thing of the past.

Bankole promised that the Police would be a worthy partner and carry out its responsibilities as and when due, adding that adequate security would be provided for the Commission to deliver on its mandate.

In his contribution, a former Commissioner of Police, who is also a member of the Commission, Mr. Edward Ajogun said armed men needed to be on standby throughout the Commission’s sittings.
