Ogun students to win N5M in Adéwálé Inter-School contest

The Adéwálé Students’ Conference is set to reward academic excellence with ₦5,000,000.00 in cash prizes in the 2023 edition of its annual inter-school competition.

The team announced the cash prize during a tour of various secondary schools, asked the participating schools to get their best candidates ready for the students’ conference, which includes the Interschool quiz, keynote addresses and other activities.

 

The Adéwálé Students’ Conference kicks off the 2023 edition with an exciting tour to a few selected schools and zonal education offices across different towns in Ogun, covering eleven schools within seven local government areas in Sagamu, Abeokuta, and Sango.

The tour tagged “Adéwálé Goes to School” aimed to engage secondary school students, especially science students, the core of their learning comfort, relaying the vision and mission of the initiative while celebrating academic excellence.

 

It was indeed an avalanche of memorable moments as the convener, Michael Adesanya, and his team impacted and inspired the students through recreational games and knowledge-driven activities.

 

In his speech, Micheal Adesanya cited his life experiences as a call to action to motivate the students, recounting examples from his time in secondary school, as documented in his debut memoir Adéwálé, My Mother’s Son.

He encouraged them to keep up the excellent work in their academics and assured them that being book smart is a talent that is both rewarding and enriching, and in addition to the students’ gifts from the Adéwálé team, Adewale’s publisher, TweakCentric Solutions, donated complimentary copies of his memoir to the school libraries. Ogun students to win N5M in Adéwálé Inter-School contest

During the tour, the Adéwálé team met with past participants and ambassadors from previous editions as the team was glad to hear that the students maintained their excellent stride, even after the competition.

He was overwhelmed with the evidence by the delightful report of all ambassadors coming out with flying colours in the just concluded Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board examination (JAMB), saying defending champions, Abubakar Zulqar’nain and Shoyele Toluwani of Apts Scholar Universal College scored 353 and 330, respectively.

 

The first runner-up, Zakari Folajimi, and Nnamdi Jordell, scored 328 and 327. While the second runner-up from the last edition, Afenisumen Enoch emerged as the overall Best in National JETS Competition 2023 scored 355 in Jamb, adding that the news further lends credence and reaffirms the vision of the Adéwálé initiative.

 

Amongst the schools visited was the convener’s alma mater, Mayflower School. It was a homecoming as Adéwálé expressed his appreciation for the school’s contribution to his success story and gave him the platform to participate in the competitions that shaped his life, challenged them to consistently strive for greatness and become educational outliers that would change the world.

 

The schools visited include Mayflower School, Ikenne, Remo Secondary School, Advanced Breed School, and Divine Life College in Sagamu. Saint Peter’s College, African Church Grammar School, Abeokuta Grammar School, Trinity International College, Ofada, in Abeokuta. Apt Scholars Universal College, Iganmode Grammar School, and Great Grace Science Secondary School. The Adewale team was warmly received by all the schools.

Among other things, the school tour stirred up excitement towards the forthcoming Adéwálé Students Conference 2023, where emerging champions will be rewarded with ₦5,000,000 in cash prizes. All schools are encouraged to enrol their best candidates for a chance to win the prize.

 

The Adéwálé team also paid a courtesy visit to the Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) in the respective towns visited to show appreciation for their support towards the success of the conference.

 

Speaking on behalf of the Zonal Offices, Mr Femi Joseph, Mr Kikisuhu Olugbenga, and Mrs Ogundimu further assured that the Adéwálé platform has full support from the Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

The team rounded up the tour on a high note, with everyone eager to see who the champions will be at the Adéwálé Students Conference set to hold in September 2023.
