Chieftain of People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) and a frontline governorship aspirant for Anambra 2021, Hon. Amb. Ike Oligbo has called for provision of quality education for Nigerian children.
Ike Oligbo made this call while reflecting on Children’s Day Celebration been observed all over the world today but physically subsumed by Coronavirus pandemic.
Oligbo regrets the inability of Nigerian children to participate in one of their annual rituals as a result of the pandemic, therefore called for provision of quality education for Nigerian children by governments at all levels to enable them attain their goals in life.
He noted that quality education is the right of every Nigerian child irrespective of societal class, tribe, religion or ethnicity, stressing that education is the fastest route to freedom and prosperity. He recalled inter alia that provision of free and compulsory nine years quality education is the first out of his nine social contract agenda with Ndi Anambra as contained in his Governorship manifesto termed “My Social Contract with Ndi Anambra”.
“My administration will make quality education designated as the UN’s fourth goal of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) a priority”, Oligbo said.
Hon. Ike Oligbo noted that without quality education, he couldn’t have attained his present status in the society and therefore advised children to take their education seriously so that they will be assured of gauranteed future.
He as well called on parents to see their enterprises in their children’s education as an investment that will lead their children to greater heights and also as one of their contributions towards building a responsible society for all.
Against these backdrops Oligbo appealed to parents to register their children and wards in an ongoing free e – school that he is sponsoring so that despite COVID-19 challenges, education of children will not be truncated.
